performer, singer, choreographer
At the end of June, Martin Krupa, Pavla Haluzová and I flew to New Mexico to perform Roselyne in Taos and in Santa Fe. It was touching to see how the show was very well received in both places. During the post-talk show, a lot of questions arose. People were sensitive to the character, the story behind it, and curious about the creative path. The unusual mix of movements and texts, dance and singing, and the poetical approach to it sparkled enthusiasm. The universality of the theme goes beyond cultural and sociological borders.
At the beginning of July, Antonie Formanová, Marie Čtveráčková and Šarka Pavelková join us, and we continue to Mexico with the performance Nothing else, Mothers. We had decided to play the piece in Spanish to facilitate the understanding of the audience. I don’t really know if they understood our Spanish/Portuguese/French/English language, but once again the alchemy went well. We shared interesting talks about the topic of relations between mothers and daughters. No matter the distance, no matter the language, a Czech mom and a Mexican mom (or a daughter or a dad) would reflect on the same points and be touched by the same images or moments from the show.
This is one of the reasons that motivates me on my artistic journey: to feel and build connections beyond the cultural and sociological borders, to share what we have in common, and talk about what makes us different.
