Cécile Da Costa is a Prague-based performer, singer and choreographer of French-Portuguese origin. She has performed five years with Farm in the Cave company, and from 2010 she joined Spitfire Company and collaborate with them until 2020. More in COLLABORATIONS page.
In her work she is searching for the connection between the vibrations of the voice and the vibrations of the movements.
With her first solo performance The Narrator, directed by Petr Boháč, she was awarded Dancer of the Year 2018 at the Czech Dance Platform Festival and she got a nomination for Total Physical award at Fringe Festival 2017.
In 2019 she premiered Roselyne her first author theatre production in Alta (Prague). In 2020 Roselyne was presented within the frames of Czech Dance Platform. Roselyne was selected as one of three Czech productions to Twenty21 by Aerowaves – a selection of 20 top works for 2021 in the field of physical theatre.
She runs workshops of physical theater in Prague and in Europe. She teaches regular classes of dance and voice training in Cirqueon, a center for new circus in Prague.
She worked with children in schools and also with people with Parkinson’s disease in retirement homes to help them to address their problems with movements and speech.
